Moore Park
Today, we introduce Moore Park, a prestigious neighborhood located on the east side of Midtown Toronto. Situated on both sides of St. Clair Avenue E, it stretches from Mount Pleasant Cemetery in the north to the Canadian Pacific Railway in the south, and between Vale of Avoca Ravine and Moore Park Ravine to the west and east, respectively. Known for its prime living environment and natural beauty.
Community History
Moore Park was established in 1889 as a wealthy suburb by its founder, John Thomas Moore, after whom the community is named. Moore’s investments included the construction of two bridges and the Belt Line Railway, Toronto’s first commuter train, in an effort to increase the community’s appeal. Despite early financial setbacks due to the economic depression, the neighborhood was incorporated into Toronto in 1912 and saw significant development by the 1930s, featuring many English, Georgian, and Tudor-style home.
Transportation
Moore Park’s central location offers excellent access to public transportation, with bus services available on St. Clair Avenue, Mount Pleasant Road, and Moore Avenue. Additionally, residents can walk to the St. Clair subway station on Yonge Street. For drivers, Moore Avenue provides quick access to Bayview Extension and the Don Valley Parkway, facilitating easy commutes to downtown Toronto and other parts of the city.
Recreation and Leisure
Moore Park boasts an abundance of green spaces and recreational facilities. Moorevale Park features five tennis courts, a baseball diamond, and a wading pool. The Moore Park Ravine footpath offers a scenic 6-kilometer loop for nature enthusiasts, connecting to the Don Valley Brickworks and providing ample opportunities for outdoor activities. The neighborhood’s proximity to Yonge Street, Eglinton Avenue, and Mount Pleasant Road also offers access to numerous cinemas and entertainment options.

The main shopping districts include Yonge and St. Clair and Mount Pleasant and Davisville, known for their gourmet food shops and fine dining restaurants. The neighborhood is well-served by various retail outlets and large chain supermarkets, making everyday shopping convenient and accessible.
Moore Park Housing
Moore Park features a diverse range of architectural styles, including English Cottage, Georgian, and Tudor homes built between 1908 and 1930. The area also includes newer townhouses and multi-plex properties. Despite the high-end nature of the neighborhood, some houses share driveways, although the quiet and clean streets ensure that parking is generally not an issue.
