Pre-Registration Phase
Have you ever thought about how to start your real estate business from 0 to 1? Are you passionate about real estate investment? Do you have various resources around but cannot generate them into money? Becoming a real estate agent may be your good choice!
As you may already know, you need to have a real estate license before you start your business. In Ontario, you can learn and take the exam from the Humber College online course. After finishing 5 courses study, 4 exams and 2 simulation sessions, you will finish the Pre-Registration Phase of the program. Don’t worried, you will have 24 months to finish all of these contents.
Register with the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO)
Congratulations that you are almost ready to start your career as a real estate agent. In this stage, you need to start to contact and learn about real estate brokerage around the community. It is mandatory to register under a real estate brokerage
How to find appropriate real estate brokerage
Generally, a real estate brokerage should provide comprehensive training sessions and teach you all the up-to-date skill sets necessary for success as a real estate agent. This includes, but is not limited to, how to do farming, how to reach out to new customers, and how to close deals.
The training system is one of the most important resources to consider when evaluating each brokerage. Additionally, you should learn about the resources that the company can provide. For example, at JDL Realty, we offer new leads and support to help new agents generate their sales from these leads. We provide 12 training sessions for new agents, hosted by our broker of record, who has over 20 years of sales experience in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). All of these resources strongly support new agents in starting their own businesses from the ground up.
In a brokerage, you generally receive support in areas like documentation, marketing, and skill training. At JDL Realty, we offer a mentorship program designed to help you grow quickly and effectively. We provide both in-person and online sessions that teach you how to define and position your market, secure your first listing, and develop successful negotiation skills to close sales.
Even if you’ve already learned some of this in school or through your number classes, it’s highly recommended to take advantage of the resources provided by your brokerage.
Furthermore, brokerages typically earn money from the commission split with agents. The commission percentages can vary based on an agent’s abilities and the services offered by the brokerage. At JDL Realty, we do not charge any desk fees, meaning new agents don’t have to pay anything unless they make a sale.
After register with a brokerage, you are ready to start your business as real estate agent.
Post Registration Phase
To be eligible to renew your registration at the end of your initial two-year registration cycle with RECO, you still need to accept many training during the process. Finish your mandatory classes and two electives courses to renew your registration. All the classes can finished online.
